Web App design
The usage of mobiles and tablets for everyday surfing is rapidly increasing. The two biggest complaints from mobile surfers are the long loading times of pages and how many web sites are broken or unusable on mobiles.
This is cutting edge tech and by doing something about it now you will have a big jump on your competitors.
Creating a Web App isn't simply shrinking down your existing web site. The app will have to built from the ground up and the only copying and pasting will be your text.
It shouldn't be an exact copy
The web app needs to be fast loading, clear and easy to navigate. It should offer the user the basic information and preferably the type of information someone on the move would want. Some examples would be your location, telephone number or a map.
It should require few updates
You should keep dates and news off unless it can be pulled in from sources like RSS feeds. It will make updating the content a lot easier.
There is no silver bullet
Is it not possible to have the app working on all phones and of all ages. There are recommended standards and guidelines but some companies chose not to follow them and some missed that particular boat and are now playing catch-up. I have tested my work on iPhone, iPad, Android and Blackberry and it looks exactly the same on all. Others mobiles may vary. You will be able to target a lot of the market but not all of the market!
This is exciting tech using the most cutting edge technology so leapfrog your competitors now before they do!
