About Simon Day

http://www.simonday.com

I’ve been designing web sites since 1997 and I focused most of my energy on CSS, W3C, SEO, usability and cross-browser compatibility.

I love valid code and I try very hard to make sure everything I do goes to the client error free. I’m very much in the “less is more” mindset. I’m also very much in the “Just because you can doesn’t mean you should” group. I hate pages that cram things onto a page just because they can without giving any thought as to the impact that item might have on the user experience.

I’m currently playing with wordpress. This template is not mine but it was a good place to start learning how to manipulate wordpress and PHP. This is work in progress and over time I will be making a number of changes as I learn how to build wordpress templates.

Having worked for the EU, npower, Ecotricity and now RBI (Biggest publisher in Europe with over 30,000 employees) I have enjoyed working for large companies and the challenges that brings. The nicest thing about working for these types of companies is they know there are three main groups which make up a team (back-end, front-end and graphic design). Too many companies want to hire one person instead of the proper team so they have one person who is at a standard level in all but excels in none.

When I get home I code for my freelance work and if I’ve done all of that I’m researching new methods and reading the latest web design news. I love what I do and spend every waking moment at it.
