A new usability tool has just launched!

Nothing much has amazed me over the last few years with regards to usability tools but a new product has just been launched which offers a whole new level of tracking which many will find useful.

http://youseeble.com offers you the ability to actually watch what a user is doing on your page. It shows where the mouse is moving as well as where they are clicking. It records everything they do and plays it back to you in full.

It also shows you what screen resolution they are using. It does this by just showing what it visible on their screen. This offers a whole new level of tracking based on various page folds:

The control panel itself is equally simple to use and anyone should be able to understand it:

I have already spotted a couple of minor issues watching these videos but I wouldn’t have spotted them before because heat-maps don’t show you everything.

I am seriously impressed with this tool. It is an early version and could do with some tweaks. My wish list would be:

  • Being able to save or store a video to show business owners at a later date
  • Being able to compare an A/B test
  • Being able to filter out search engine crawlers (there are a lot of non-records because of them but there is no way of filtering them to only show real recordings)
  • Being able to show results based on a website. At the moment I have the script on two sites but I have no way of knowing which site the recordings are based on until I play each one.

What you need to do to install this?

It could not be simpler. Just add one line of code above the /head in the your HTML and you’re all set

This really is an amazing tool and top marks to John Goes and his partner for this amazing new tool!
