South Hams Motor Club launches new initiative for the stars of the future
In a bid to help local talent in Devon and Cornwall, South Hams Motor Club have launched a new motorsport initiative. Many current young drivers find the transfer from single venue events to the forest a huge financial and personal burden. Due to this the Devon based club is awarding a free entry to the Newton
Abbot Audi Stages 2005.
All entries for their single venue event in June at Portreath (in Cornwall) will be eligible for the award.
Marshals will be the judges voting on categories such as: most entertaining on the track, the most cheerful and helpful crew in all aspects from saying thank you to marshals and helping other crews in mechanical difficulty.
The first recipient of the prize is Tony McCarthy from Kingsbridge in his Talbot Sunbeam. He's now preparing the car for next years event on January 17th, and is
extremely excited about being given the opportunity to try his hand at Forest rallying.
We would like to welcome another sponsor - Langage Farm, thank you - your support is much appreciated!

Following the successful, inaugural running of the "Newton Abbot Audi Stages" in January, Mr. Alan Baker of Newton Abbot Audi commented: "Audi has a tremendous motor sport heritage - rallying in particular, so we are pleased to sponsor the event and to be associated with top quality motor sport here in the southwest. I was a spectator in the Haldon Forests when the RAC Rally came through here back in 1976 when Roger Clark won - it is great to see rallying back again."
