Words of wisdom heeded!

I want to thank a women called Jenni who emailed me today. I won't go into the email but she made me realise some things that I didn't see until I took a step back. You're a good women Jenni and thank you for such a great email! I read what you said a few times and then took a step back and looked at my posts. What you said made perfect sense and if you refresh the page you'll see I've taken to heart what you said. I did a lengthy reply to you but the email bounced back.

This cold has me really run down at the moment and this afternoon I tried to get some back some of the sleep I've been missing but 14 phone calls put pay to that.

I bought a new camera off ebay just after the baby was born. After weeks reading up on dozens of cameras I finally opted for the Fuji S7000. I was still a little uncertain when I saw the quality on the reviews but now I've got one and had a good play with it I have to say I can't fault the quality. Although it's a 6 mega pixel camera in raw mode you can take that up to 12 mega pixel. I stick with the 6mp jpg format all the time and with a resolution of 4048x3040 it can produce some big piccies. The most amazing thing is the night shots. I'll be going down the harbour soon and playing at night with it but with what I've taken already the night shots are staggering!

SHE'S HOME!

Hannah started waking up for feeds ever hour and she had good feeds so out went the tube and a few hours later she and mum were home. I can't tell you how relieved we are that she's safe and back home.

Let's hope that, until she starts breathing through her mouth in a few weeks time, she gets nothing else that will block her only source of air.

I have a cold and last night and this morning it reached its peak so I'm having to keep away from Marie and Hannah while this thing passes.

Another update

Hannah has started wanting feeds and the tube has come out. Fingers crossed they might be out of hospital soon.

Update on Hannah

She's finally starting to breathe more easily. The infection on her chest is clearing. The infection on her eye keeps coming and going but still the problem is she won't feed off of Marie and needs to be fed through the tube that goes through her nose and down to her stomach. The hospital won't release her until she can feed on her own and at the moment she's still too ill to do this. Hannah is exhausted as is Marie who has to express every 2 hours which includes all through the night.

This isn't a nice way for Hannah to spend her two week old birthday and at the moment there is no timescale as to when they will be coming home. I'm not allowed to stay at the hospital at night but Marie phones me around 6.30 - 7am in the morning to update me about the night. Last night Hannah stopped completely trying to feed from Marie. It's impossible not to get really upset by all this when you see your child in so much distress :(

I've heard nothing from Den and Gill in the video shop which is probably a good thing as I'm still really hurt by them both. My thanks for all the emails I've received; it's nice that so many care!

You find out who your friends are

Last night Hannah, our 12 day old daughter was having breathing problems. We thought it might be a cold and left it until this morning. During the night Hannah was up all night unable to sleep or feed. Today I was working in the Video Shop (VideoWorld, 1 South Street Torquay) and I got a phone call from Marie saying Hannah was getting worse and she was taking her to the doctors.

I really did not want to work in the video shop today because I saw how bad Hannah was last night but told Marie to phone me the minute she had news. Just before 6pm I get a phone call from her saying the doctor has said to take her up to casulty because he was concerned about her. At this point, like any father would, I needed to be with Marie and our daughter to comfort them both in casulty.

I phone my Dad to get him to cover me briefly and phoned the bosses, Gill and Dennis, to ask them to come in at close because Dad doesn't know what to do. Would you believe Gill actually got shitty on the phone and bitched at me about her coming in!

I ignore the shitty phone call and headed to casulty. After being examined the Doctor said her breathing was worrying enough to keep her in overnight. I race back here to get some money for the car park and find the Video shop shut. Apperently Gill and Den came storming in the shop fuming, kicked out my customers who were on the computer and shouted at my Dad that it was his fault because he didn't know how to shut the shop.

What the fuck? you pair of heartless, selfish shits! My TWELEVE DAY old daughter was heading to CASULTY! If Den was taken to casulty tomorrow wouldn't YOU want to be with him? You shouldn't assume you know what's wrong because you don't and you got it wrong. The phone call from Marie scared me to death. I needed support from you and all I got was a selfishness I've never seen before.

In the last year and a half I have covered EVERY SINGLE evening that you two wanted to go out and I did it without a second thought. I have NEVER had a single day off. In all that time I've asked you to come in twice to cover the final few hours of my shift. once because my Grandad died and the second because of a stomach infection that kept me on the loo. When my Grandad died I STILL had to pay YOUR son for covering me.

I'm sorry I messed up your evenings TV, next time Hannah gets ill or someone is about to die I'll have to make sure to tell them they can get ill or die on any day but a Wednesday because you have your precious day off!

I cannot believe how fucking selfish you two are. I’ve never asked for ANYTHING from you and the one day I needed support from you two you shit all over me.

Bastards!

**Update 9am Thursday**

Marie and Hannah are still in hospital. Hannah still has trouble breathing and still isn't feeding. Looks like they won't be coming home today either. I'll keep you all posted and thanks for the kind words and emails!

It's that time of year!

The colds have started to arrive now. I feel very tired and yucky right now as does Marie, Faye and our daughter Hannah.

The huge fishing meet was a loss because of the strong winds. Only one person turned up but didn't stay long in those gales. I couldn't make it either so all in all a nightmare.

Talking of the gales the higher ferry at dartmouth broke free of its guide cables because of the wind. The ferry, with 34 passengers on board and 15 cars on board, was seen drifting down river, clashing with other boats and turning in the wind. Passengers said they feared for their lives as the ferry broke loose.

Harbour charges for Tor Bay are to be increased for the next financial year.Torbay Council which is the harbour authority, has decided to increase the charges by an average of three per cent. The council say the review of charges needed to be considered before the budget setting process to make sure they maximise the income of the harbour. The decision will be implemented on Monday unless it is called in.Full details of the schedule of harbour charges will be included as an information item in the council's budget for 2005-06, which is due to be approved in March.
