It's time people stopped paying large deposits or in full before delivery
I don't know how many of you have read that Courts furniture store is the latest in a line of furniture stores to go belly up.
All of the big stores receive complaint after complaint after complaint. People pay over thousands of pounds and then wait weeks and months hoping that if it finally gets delivered its all ok.
You read all the time of people losing thousands of pounds they can't afford because a business has gone bust. It can take anything up to a couple of years before an order is finally resolved. I bet you wouldn’t be waiting two years if no-one paid anything but a peanut deposit before delivery?
There have been so many furniture stores goes belly up isn't it time people stopped paying so much money up front for goods that take forever to arrive?
If everyone stopped paying for the goods UNTIL the day it arrived do you think you'd be waiting those months then? not a chance!
It would need everyone to stop shopping in these stores until the policy is changed but while everyone is prepared to run the gauntlet of the "Can my goods be delivered in one piece before the store goes bust" problem it is likely to continue.
What do they care if you have to repeatedly takes days off work waiting for delivery that never appears? What do they care if the fully fitted kitchen you paid for is a jigsaw of three different ranges? Once they have your money in full your very best bargining power has gone. Reputations mean nothing to large companies anymore. It's all down to profit no matter what the cost.
Thanks to the Internet these once great stores are being shown for what they really are. I've never been affected by this but I cringe when I see just how much money people have lost.
Giving up your money so far in advance is dangerous and you should only ever agree to this if you can easily afford to loose twice the amount. Twice because you might lose the first lot of money and you'll still have to buy it for a second time.
If it's all your savings good luck!

New Budget web site goes online
The Meadowfield hotel in Paignton is my latest site to go online.
Their old site was created in FrontPage and looked like it. The new site is smarter and cleaner than the old one and much more search engine friendly. It also passes W3C and AAA Bobby checks.
Web Design Tips and Tricks
My Web design tips for the beginner has been updated. I've updated it slightly and changed the html so it now passes XHTML strict.
Net Zone gets a makeover also
My other Devon Web Design site has had a makeover. It was 2 years old and needed a facelift. It also needed to be more search engine friendly and to pass W3C and AAA Bobby which it now does.
