It's been an interesting week this week.

I went fishing Tuesday with my mate Anthony down Oddicombe Beach. I had wanted rag for bait but I couldn't buy any locally so ended up using squid and mackerel. It was strange because you'd have short burts of madness and then long periods of nothing.

Last night I had the whole of Brixham Breakwater to myself. I caught a load of codling fishing the bottom and a couple of nice whiting on a float. I was catching the codling on a long 1 up paternoster with a pennel end. My bait consisted of a lug/rag/squid combo and the codling all went for the squid (Calmar). The most active fish spots were close in. Anything in the 10 to 30 yard mark were getting lots of bites.

Torquay Carnival 2004 Photos

I added the above page today with photos of the 2004 Torquay Christmas Carnival. Despite the bitter cold winds plenty turned out to see the Carnival and we all enjoyed it.

New Virus Record Set

I went to a software repair this afternoon and from the moment I turned the computer on I knew I was in for some fun. When it wouldn't let me into regedit I already knew some nasty stuff lay lurking inside for me to deal with.

After manually removing the ones I knew would prevent virus checkers from functioning properly I then set about running a couple of virus checkers to clear up the remaining easier viruses. At the point I had to leave it was up to 75 different virus and still rising. It was a wonder the computer was still working :-)

Anyway, lots of problems fixed and I left with the machine running as good as new again with the women telling her son to be careful in future.

Upgraded from Modem to Broadband? READ THIS!
The women I went to today had recently upgraded to Broadband but she had left her old modem in and connected to the phone socket.

The main reason she phoned me was because a premium rate dialler had been installed on her machine and it was dialling up without her knowing. She had a phone bill of almost £200 in two days.

ALWAYS REMOVE YOUR MODEM ONCE YOU NO LONGER NEED IT!

She had already told BT she would pay it off in two halves but you don't have to pay it! You need to contact ICSTIS and get them to put a hold on the bill while they investigate. ICSTIS web site here. It may take a while but you'll probably not have to pay.
