http://www.theenglishriviera.co.uk/ - Who designed this mess?
I have a client that wanted his web site updated. No problem there. I design a web site that passes W3C HTML and CSS as well has being grade AAA on Bobby. So far so good.
He then wanted me to add an events page and link it through to the English Rivera’s events page. I add the page and then run his site through W3C again to find it fails on 8 counts because of the URL. There is no other way of adding this page. I was hoping I could link through to a folder but no, they had to use to a way of messing everything up.
I then ran a bobby check on 40 of their pages and each page has almost 100 errors per page. This is the one of those "This is how you should never design an accessible site".
I've solved the problem by linking the events page to a blank page on the clients web site explaining that this dummy page was needed to make sure the rest of the web site remains valid.
In October this year all web sites should have made at least an effort to make their web sites accessible. I would have thought it would of been a higher priority for sites such as this.

Women sues credit card company for letting her spend_
Heh, this can only happen in America:
A 40 year old New York women is suing American Express for allowing her to run up debts of $951,000. She is seeking $2m in damages because, according to her, American Express should have realised she was acting impulsively and and irrationally at the time she entered the contract.
Yup, it's a crazy world we live in!

The conservatives Party Broadcast
I don't know if you saw the Conservatives broadcast tonight but if you go to their web site you can download Michael Howard's plan for the first month if they become elected.
It all looks really good but the problem is the public have been lied too so many times by so many polititions it's impossible to ever believe any words in print or spoken. Stats are there only for them to twist and omit until it makes them look good.
What we need is a prime minister who doesn't bring in stealth tax after stealth tax and then tell me I'm better off. We need a Prime minister who when s/he says they will do something... they do. We need a Prime Minster who will admit they made a mistake. Most of all we need a Prime Minister who listens to what the country wants and either does it or give us valid reasons not to go ahead with it.
What do I need to do? Wake up from this dreamland!
A good nights fishing_ I went fishing last night with a mate. I bought a new lightweight rod yesterday because I wanted more of a fight with the smaller fish. We decided on Princess pier so we fished there from 3.30pm to 8pm. It was a good night with plenty of fish being caught. Only problem was it was me who caught them all :)
I see the local council have to lay off 100 staff soon. May be if they didn't give themselves a fatcat payrise these 100 people would still have jobs.
